About Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park is a hidden gem and the closest savannah national park to Kampala, making it the perfect introduction to a Uganda safari or a convenient overnight stop en route to the western parks. What makes Lake Mburo unique is the variety of activities not available elsewhere: horseback safaris alongside zebras and impalas, walking safaris with armed rangers, night game drives to spot leopards and hyenas, and boat cruises on the lake teeming with hippos, crocodiles, and African fish eagles. The park is home to Uganda's only population of impalas, eland, and the rare Rothschild giraffe (recently translocated). The surrounding Ankole pastoral community adds a rich cultural dimension.
